
Black silicon carbide is made at high temperature in an electric powered resistance kind furnace with quarts sand and petroleum coke as its primary raw marterials. Its hardness is amongst fused alumina and synthetic diamond. Mechanical depth of it is higher than fused alumina. It is brittle and sharp has electrical and warmth conductivity in some degree. The abrasives manufactured of it are appropriate for doing work on forged iron, non-ferrous steel, rock, leather, rubber, and many others. It is also broadly utilized as refractory material and metallurgical additive.
